Cartelli was born in Cassino (Italy) on January 23rd, 1954. He
graduated in Mathematics at “La Sapienza” University in Rome on
October 13th, 1976, with the best marks and honors. On March 22nd,
1985, he obtained in the same University, the after-degree Special
School Diploma in Physics (two-years course with a final thesis),
with the best marks (50/50).
He is actually researcher in
Didactics and special pedagogy (Italian scientific sector M-PED/03),
as a winner with the best marks (100/100) of the national competition
for that position, and in 2010 has won the national competition for
associate professorship in Experimental pedagogy (Italian scientific
sector M-PED/04). He is actually engaged with the Department of
Humanistic Sciences of the University of Cassino. Since Sep 2nd, 2002
he is employed in the Faculty of Humanities of the University of
his actual position he has been teacher (from Oct 1976 to Sep 1st,
2002) in Italian schools of different levels, where he taught
Mathematics and Physics (Liceo), Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics and
Natural Sciences (Junior High School), Informatics (Technical High
School). All qualifications to teaching were obtained after winning
the corresponding national competitions by the Italian Ministry of

Faculty of Humanities and helping students in obtaining one of the
currently available certifications (ECDL or IC3),
“MeDigEco” (2011 - ), devoted to the planning and carrying out of
experiences of pervasive and embedded computing and to the
digitization of reality;

and granted for a biennial period by the Italian Ministry of

- as associate member of the local unit
of Salerno in the national biennial project starting in 2003 and
coordinated by professor N. Paparella in the University of Lecce
(Italy). The national project was titled “E-learning in university
education. Didactical models and pedagogical criteria”,
coordinator of the local unit of Cassino in the national biennial
research project starting in 2006 and titled “Internet and School:
concerns with accessibility, equal policy and information
management”. The project was coordinated by professor A. Calvani in
the university of Florence (Italy).
c) European research
- as coordinator of the local unit of Cassino in the
biennial European research project starting in 2006 and titled
“PBP-VC: Promoting best practices in virtual campuses”,
coordinated by the University of Paisley (now University of Western
Scotland) - (UK). The project was approved and granted by the EACEA
(Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency).

2006 he took part in two national competitions for full time
professor in the scientific sector M-PED/03 and obtained positive
assessments for those positions.
In 2008 he qualified for the
position of associated professor of “Applied ICT” in the “Centre
for Applied Information and Communication Technology (CAICT)” of
the Copenhagen Business School.
In the same year he was positively
evaluated in the international contest for the position of full time
professor in “Informatics and social changes” at the University
of Erlangen (Germany).
In June 2010 he qualified for the position
of associated professor in the scientific sector M-PED/04
(experimental pedagogy) in his university.
During last years he
has been chairman in many conferences (in June 2010 he chaired the
InSITE conference in Cassino) and has been invited speaker in the
